The Atholl Gathering marks one of the season's first Highland Games. The festival starts with the annual Parade of the Atholl Highlanders - Britain's only legitimate private army. Highlights include highland dancing, piping, races, competitive feats of strength and tossing the caber.
The "all day, all free, all blues" Dundee Blues Bonanza offers boasts more than 60 different acts at venues throughout the city. The festival has, since 1995, grown so much for Dundee to become known as the Blues Capital of Scotland.
The Pitlochry Festival Theatre hosts its annual summer programme in the midst of some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery. Visitors can see up to five different shows a week at one of the country's most famous summer seasons.
The award-winning Highland Folk Museum just out of Highland village Newtonmore tells the story of Highland life from the 1700s. The restored buildings on the museum's 80-acre site illustrate domestic and agricultural ways of life, including distinctive Highland sporting traditions.
